Description
Paired Stimulus Preference Assessment
The Paired Stimulus Preference Assessment (PSPA) is a practical ABA assessment tool designed to identify an individual’s preferred items by presenting two stimuli at a time and recording their choices.
This resource helps behavior therapists, educators, caregivers, and other professionals systematically identify potential reinforcers that can be used to increase motivation and support skill acquisition.
Key Features:
- Simple paired-choice assessment format
- Presents two items or stimuli at a time
- Records the individual’s selections
- Helps identify high-preference items
- Useful for selecting potential reinforcers
- Suitable for children and individuals with developmental disabilities
- Easy to use during clinical, educational, or home-based ABA sessions
- Supports organized data collection and preference ranking
How It Works:
Two items are presented simultaneously, and the learner is given an opportunity to select one. The selected item is recorded, and the process is repeated with different item combinations. After all pairings are completed, the results can be reviewed to determine which items were selected most frequently.
Ideal For:
Behavior Therapists, RBTs, IBTs, ABATs, IBA/BCaBAs/QBAs, teachers, special educators, parents, and ABA practitioners.
Product Purpose:
The assessment is intended to support individualized reinforcement planning and should be interpreted alongside direct observation and other relevant assessment information.
